Our Trainer

Alexis has 22 years of riding experience and has been teaching for the past 10 years to students of all levels and ages.

Alexis' background started in Northern Maryland riding and competing in the hunter arena. When Alexis was 11 she discovered the world of Eventing and Dressage. Alexis then joined the local Pony Club where she received her C rating and actively competed on the Dressage team.

Alexis began her dressage training with Judy McGaun in Clarksville, MD while taking jumping instruction from Niki Johnson of Frederick, MD. Alexis competed to Novice level and 1st level dressage before leaving for college.

While in her first year at college Alexis left the world of horses behind for one semester and realized she could not do without. So she began training and working with young horses at a local barn in Blacksburg, Va.

The summer after her freshman year Alexis came home to work as a Senior Riding instructor at Potomac Horse Center in Potomac, MD. While working at Potomac Horse Center Alexis was able to work and teach riders of all levels, disciplines, and ages. She especially had fun working with the summer camp and show team while there.

During this same summer, Alexis bought her first horse, Pick and Tuck aka Tucker. Tucker was meant to be a summer project horse but if you have been to the barn recently you will notice that 6 years later he is still roaming around! Alexis and Tucker headed back to college the next year and began working and training with German Grand Prix trainer Patrizia Brooks and Alexis began competing in the Virginia Tech Dressage Team. While with Patrizia, Alexis was able to ride and help train horses from the ground all the way to Patrizia's PSG and GP horses.

Patrizia helped Alexis and Tucker get to 1st level dressage before Alexis headed off to Florida after graduation. Alexis is now working with Grand Prix rider and trainer Jodie Kelly.
