Naysa is an international hero. She has suffered more than most of us can imagine. A man bought her at an auction for $37. He planned to sell her for $100, but she refused to load onto his trailer. He beat her severly until her face bones were crushed and she almost lost an eye. He wrapped her halter in hard wire. He tied her to the back of the trailer and drove away, dragging her behind. He left her in the hot sun to die behind the trailer, and finally shot her through the face. It is a miracle that she even survived. Rescuers poured water over her body for two hours, wondering when she would finally give up and die. She was named Naysa, which means "Miracle of God." I adopted her from Habitat for Horses. It has taken a lot of time and patience to convince Naysa that she no longer has anything to fear. She still has some bad days, but every day she gets better. She is one amazing horse.
